Seasonal Resort Staff Housing

With the rebound in travel after the pandemic, the owner of Fern Resort at Lake Couchiching in Ontario realized they didn’t have enough staff beds to support the increased demand at the resort. With customer occupancy for the summer approaching 100% and having staff stay in the resort’s existing hotel rooms, they had limited time to react. 720 Modular came with a repurposed solution that met the client’s budget and timeline.

720 was able to source a repurposed 8 module skidded 49 person dormitory in Northern Alberta. By reconfiguring the project from 8 modules down to 6 modules and keeping the central washroom module, it was the perfect solution and provided the right number of staff accommodations for Fern Resort. Early engagement with the local municipality and their building department ensured all items were addressed ahead of submitting for Building Permit application. Preconstruction and permitting took a total of 7 weeks from date of contract, and site preparation, transportation, installation and commissioning took another 5 weeks with the project opening on time and on budget…ready for the busy summer season.
